National Coordinator, Monitoring and Evaluation at the Office of the President Madam Gifty Ohene Konadu has debunked assertions that the government has abandoned Kumasi despite the region’s massive support for the party.
She described the assertions as a propaganda agenda being fueled by the opposition National Democratic Congress to cause disaffection for the government.
Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, she said the government had given Kumasi and the Ashanti region its fair share of the national cake.
She stated that she and her team had one of their checks and discovered that recent outbursts by some aggrieved residents in the region complained over what they referred to as neglect.
”But I want to state that President Akufo-Addo has not neglected Kumasi. I went to Kumasi to tour and inspect ongoing projects and also pick first-hand information on what was happening. I can bodily declare that there are several road projects ongoing in the region. The Abuakwa dual carriage road, the Creative Arts School, the affordable Housing project, and the Kumasi Airport phase II project is under construction. We have several projects in the region.
And so, it is not that the President has abandoned Kumasi. The aggrieved persons spoke about the Pankra road. There was litigation over the project, but we have resolved it. They also spoke about an interchange. We are aware the Covid-19 outbreak slowed a lot of things, but the government is working.”
Meanwhile, she has assured residents of the government’s commitment to rolling out policies to transform their lives.
