The Member of Parliament for Builsa South Dr. Clement Apaak has shot down suggestions by former National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Boateng Gyan that the umbrella family will lose the 2024 polls with former President John Dramani Mahama as a presidential candidate.
\Dr. Apaak, who has consistently demanded the return of Mr. Mahama as the 2024 presidential candidate, said no fact or assertion can change the fact that Mr. Mahama is the only best bet for victory in 2024.
Mr. Boateng Gyan attributed his assertion to the 8-year-jinx, which he says serving for 8 years in government is a combination of being a vice and the president.
He explained that Mr. Mahama was a vice under the late Mills for four years and then became president for four years, making it eight, hence he got no chance of becoming president in 2024.
But Dr. Clement Apaak has shot down the claims saying it has no basis and factual arguments.
He maintained that Mr. Mahama was robbed in the 2020 polls and deprived of his victory.
He added the former President helped the party gain 137 seats in parliament.
The lawmaker said Mr. Mahama should not be compared to someone who got no political record in Ghana’s electoral politics.
In a tweet, Dr. Apaak said ”If JM who was robbed in the 2020 elections, & on whose back and record we won 137 seats can’t win, is it someone who has no record in electoral politics, has no name recognition and has no charisma who can win? Those who planted the warped EIU report are known. We wait to see”.
