Four teacher unions at the pre-tertiary level have declared an indefinite strike until further notice.
The unions are the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), the Coalition of Concerned Teachers and The Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU).
The unions, at a press conference, revealed that they have severally on the government to grant them the 20% Cost-of-Living-Allowance (COLA), which every Ghanaian public sector worker deserves particularly teachers and educational workers of the pre-tertiary education level.
The unions complained that these calls have, unfortunately, fallen on deaf ears adding ”we wish to use this forum to express our displeasure over the insensitivity of the government our demand”.
The statement by the unions said the demand for COLA is influenced by high level of inflation in the country.
