Ranking Member on the Privileges Committee of Parliament Kweku Ricketts-Hagan has suggested that the Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya Sarah Adwoa Safo should be declared a ‘missing MP’.
According to him, the MP should be declared ‘missing’ after all efforts to reach her proved futile.
Mr. Ricketts-Hagan said the MP failed to appear to answer questions as to why she has absented herself from proceedings without official permission.
He explained that the Committee is unaware of her condition, and there are speculations that she was unwell, but the Committee has not received any official communication on that.
He disclosed that as per the standing orders of the House, the Committee had exhausted all avenues in trying to reach her, and the Committee will refer the matter to the Speaker, and if there are other avenues, ” we could deal with it.
He said this has never happened in Ghana’s history because it is a strange situation and weird, and we could be entering new territories here.
He added that ”other interesting things came up while we were discussing the issue. The situation is basically moving from not finding a person to possibly a missing person. My personal view is that we have tried everything”.
