A 2024 Independent Presidential Hopeful, Mr Kofi Koranteng, is calling for the resignation of the Vice President, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia.
According to him, the Vice President as the Chair of the Economic Management Team has failed, especially when Ghana is currently seeking a bailout from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Addressing the media on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, Mr Koranteng said under the leadership of the chairman of the economic management team, Dr Bawumia has led Ghana to its worst international credit.
He urged parliament to use their processes to remove Dr. Bawumia from office if he refuses to resign.
He said the current administration has performed poorly and led the country into a deeper hole.
He added that the blatant and systematic profligacy of the government has left the state broke, and that has been something both the NDC and NPP do when in power.
He was of the view that Ghana would not be able to settle its public debt, which is now over 400 billion.
To him, investors are unwilling to come to Ghana to invest because the environment is not favourable for business owners.
