SP to appeal High Court’s decision not to freeze the assets of Sir John

July 12, 2022

The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, has hinted at plans to file an appeal against the Accra High Court’s dismissal of his application seeking to freeze the assets of the late Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, also known as Sir John.

The Special Prosecutor explained in a statement that the judge misconstrued the application for confirmation of the freezing order.

He also added that rgw judge misdirected herself by characterising the application as that of a confiscation order.

The Special Prosecutor filed an application in court and prayed it to freeze the assers of Sir John following ongoing probe into how these assets were acquired.

But the Accra High Court presided over by Her Ladyship, Justice Afia Serwaa Asare Botwe, on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 dismissed the application.
