A former mine worker, Nana Gyabi, has recounted his experience with cocaine.
Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, he stated that he started using cocaine after his quest to travel abroad failed.
Narrating his ordeal on the show to the host Kwabena Agyapong, he said the company he worked with became redundant and so several of them lost their jobs.
But he received an amount of Ghc17,000 cedis as compensation.
After receiving the amount, he took steps to travel abroad but it did not work.
Luckily for him, the agent who was working on the deal for him paid back the money.
However, the pain and disappointment in not traveling made him use the drug.
According to him, he started using the drug in 2004 till 2022 when he came into contact with Chosen Rehab Centre, where drug addicts are being transformed to be ambassadors against drug abuse and other social vices.
He further revealed the drug use made him take advantage of his mother who was abroad and was sending money to him to build a house for her.
He said although he built the house, he was doubling the cost of everything that went into the building so he could satisfy his cravings for cocaine.
He encouraged the public not to depend on drugs since drugs can deprive them of their sanity.
He shockingly revealed that some people make their wives sleep with other men so they can get money to satisfy their cravings.
“Yes, there are men who pimp their wives ro other men so they can receive the money and use it to buy drugs. When you are an addict, you will lose your sanity. You lose control of yourself. Drug use is not good, I have been there and I can attest that it is not safe to depend on drugs.”
