He explained that although they were not officially informed about the redevelopment of the Asomdwee Park, it fulfils their desire to have the place given a facelift.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Kwabena Agyapong on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, he said the family was worried the place was in a deplorable state since it served as a den for criminals, prostitutes and other social deviants.

He disclosed that the family had issues with Asomdwee Park from the burial day of the late President because it was not benefitting a sitting President.

He told the host that ”the late Prof. Mills was the only sitting President who died. In ceremony was rushed because we needed to bury him and prepare for a new president. The agreement was that the Asomdwee Park would be given a facelift, so it would be befitting. But it was delayed, and the family was worried about the situation. The family became agitated, and in 2015, we rose and called for the place to be redeveloped, but some leaders appealed, and we kept mute”.

He further stated that the family had made plans to engage with the government and Koku Anyidoho, who through him, the place was redeveloped until the Cadman Mills and Samuel Atta Mills went public without the knowledge of the family to address the issue.

He said despite Koku Anyidoho being wrong without informing the family, he had good intentions, and his appeal got the place redeveloped, which has fulfilled their long wish to have the place befitting their late son.

He added that it was also wrong for Cadman Mills and other relatives of the late President to have used the approach they used because ”two wrongs do not make a right.

He announced that the family would hold a memorial service on August 10, 2022, to commemorate the passing of Atta Mills.

”We were pained that we were not informed about the ceremony held by the state so we could honour our son. But we will organize a ceremony on August 10, 2022, to commemorate his passing.”
