President Akufo-Addo has cut the sod for the start of construction works on the dualisation of Yendi and Bimbila Township roads in the Northern Region.
The works form part of Lots 5 & 6 of the Eastern Corridor Road Project which stretches from Oti Damanko through Gbintiri to Zanteli.
So far a total of 164km of roads from Oti Damanko to Zanteli have been completed to asphalt concrete finish.
The dualization of the Yendi and Bimbila township roads will lead to a reduction in congestion in the urbanized areas and consequently a reduction in overall travel time along the corridor.
It will also help improve pedestrian and vehicle safety issues arising from head-on collisions and pedestrian knockdowns within the towns.
The works was undertaken by Brazilian construction companies Construtora Andrade Gutierrez and Construtora Norberto Odebrecht.
