A former general secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyapong has boldly asked President Akufo-Addo to sack Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
According to him, nobody wants the job of Ken Ofori-Atta, but it was about time he showed him the exit and cleared the Economic Management Team.
He expressed disappointment in the President for refusing to reshuffle since the president was expected to set a high bar and demand results from his team.
Mr. Agyapong noted that the President should not have described his appointees as outstanding, especially when the results suggest otherwise.
To him, the President should wait for the people to demand a reshuffle before he takes that action but looks at the data and the science ”and it is there in clear evidence that the country is sinking.
He said Ghana is currently in dangerous territories, and so, the only major thing the President can do to arrest the situation is to clear out the managers of the economy and it’s a fact.
”That is what is left for him to do because you can’t let the same people who have driven us to this place remain in office.”
He posited that some of us would have to stand out and be counted, and he would rather die speaking the truth than be populist because I am NPP.
According to him, he is beginning to wonder if these appointees are serving the interest of the country.
Speaking on Kessben Fm, he asked the President not to allow people who don’t have the country at heart to sink this country because he [Nana Addo] worked too hard for the country over the past 40 years to get to where he is today.
