The Ashanti Regional Police Command rescued a woman who had been abducted by armed robbers.
The suspected armed robbers kidnapped the victim after they had robbed her family at their apartment in Abuakwa Asenemaso and held her hostage.
According to the police, robbers wielding machetes attacked two families in a house around 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday and robbed them of valuables.
They also apprehended the 34-year-old woman.
The robbers had previously called the woman’s family and demanded a GHC20,000 ransom, according to police.
The woman was kept in an unfinished building at Mmetiam near Abuakwa in the Atwima Nwabiagya municipality until the Police intelligence Unit intervened.
The 34-year-old woman, an Accountant at Mpasatia Senior High School, is currently receiving treatment at the Abuakwa Polyclinic.
