The Ministry of National Security has admonished residents of Lower Manya Krobo and Yilo Krobo municipalities to work with security agencies and the Electricity Company of Ghana to restore power to the affected areas.
Following an alleged exchange of gunshots between the military and some Nuaso residents, communities in the Lower Manya and Yilo Krobo municipalities have been cut off from the national grid.
According to a Ministry statement, the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs and other stakeholders have agreed to foster peace and security while promoting socioeconomic activities in both municipalities.
Stakeholders also stressed the importance of performing integrity tests on all power transmission lines and electricity infrastructure in the area.
It was agreed that efforts should be adopted for the resumption of installation of prepaid meters following the restoration of electricity supply to the areas.
A security deployment to the areas was agreed upon to ensure law and order during the installation of the prepaid meters.
