The Ghanaian teacher who swims to school has revealed that he would be grateful if he could find decent housing in the community where the school is located.
This week, the story of Mensah Kwame, a teacher at Lonpe MA Primary School in the Nanumba North District of the Northern Region, went viral.
He explained that he sometimes swims to the other side of the river to get a boat and then returns to get his belongings before going to school.
Mensah Kwame told Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm’s Nyankonton Mu Nsem that he has been teaching in the area for six years and admits that teaching at Lonpe is frustrating because it is dangerous.
“It’s not easy teaching in rural communities, especially since I have to swim across this river every day to get to school.” “My family is very concerned,” he explained.
“Although I am aware of the risks, I also enjoy what I do,” the teacher said. I enjoy teaching, which is why I persevere in the face of adversity.”
He stated that the authorities are aware of the difficulties that he and other teachers face.
