Sarki Saddick Abubakar, the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) Branch Chairperson-Mallam Junction, has advised drivers to maintain discipline, humility, and respect for road traffic regulations in order to avoid road accidents.
The Chairman stated that indiscipline and disregard for traffic regulations have no place at the station.
He urged them to avoid supervising, overtaking, and drunk driving because it could result in the loss of human lives.
He said, “Let us maintain discipline, be humble, and treat our passengers with dignity. To ensure that human lives are saved, we must maintain a high level of discipline in this branch “.
He also stated that because driving is a source of income for the drivers, they must preserve and protect what feeds them.
He emphasised the importance of treating “our passengers with dignity. Let us show them the utmost respect regardless of what happens or how they behave. We must transport them safely to their destination. Nothing should divert our attention.”
Meanwhile, he has urged passengers who have recently used the station and lost a valuable item to come to the station and identify the item for collection.
He stated that the station has several lost items in its possession, including mobile phones.
He advised the drivers not to keep lost items left in their vehicles in their possession.
Such actions, he claims, violate the GPRTU’s rules and regulations.
He was speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm.
