In response to allegations that he was offered but declined an appointment, Kwabena A, Agyepong, former General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has categorically denied the claims.
According to the renowned politician, engineer, and journalist, no one has called him about any appointment, nor has he rejected any appointment, as some have speculated.
He finds it amusing that people will make such baseless accusations just to smear him, he says.
In an exclusive interview with host Kwabena Agyapong on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm’s Frontline, he said he sometimes gets worried about some of the negative comments people make about him because of his candour.
He stated that he was not concerned about not receiving an appointment, but that it was unfortunate and terrible for people to speculate that he had rejected an appointment.
“Let me clarify: I have not rejected any appointments, as has been speculated. I haven’t received any calls regarding appointments, so I’m not sure why people make these claims. I didn’t campaign for the president because I wanted a job. I did it because I adore my country. If it reaches the point where the president believes I am capable of serving in his administration, why not?”
