Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, on Monday, August 29, 2022, addressed members of the Medical and Dental Council this morning in Accra on the occasion of the Council’s 50th Anniversary Celebration and 2022 Conference.

In his address, the Vice President said the services health workers are providing our country are invaluable, and commended the Council for providing the needed regulatory framework over the years to ensure professional and safe medical and dental practice in Ghana.

While commending them, he, however, expressed the Government’s concern over the increasing rate of negligence and other unprofessional conduct by some healthcare workers.

As the 2022 Conference seeks to, among other things, take stock of the Council’s operations, the Vice President urged them to suggest solutions for the effective management of such practitioners for the public good.

He also reiterated our Government’s commitment to continuing its vision of expanding access to healthcare through infrastructure development and pro-poor policies, such as the expansion of health facilities, strengthening the NHIS, reviving the Ghana Ambulance Service through One Constituency One Ambulance, the introduction of medical drone delivery service to remote parts of the country, and many more.
