The 2021 Auditor-General’s report has disclosed that former students of the Takoradi Technical University owed the school Ghc486,142.00 as at December 31, 2021.
The report noted that management has recovered Ghc44,049.00 at the time of the completion of the report in May 2022.
By this figure, there is an outstanding Ghc442,093.00 yet to be recovered.
The school had been asked to put in measures to retrieve all school fees owed by former students of the school.
Also, the management of the school did not collect rent income amounting to GHc42,129.63 from 45 occupants of the university’s bungalows.
The report recommended to management to recover the said amount from the occupants.
The report also discovered that management failed to recover outstanding salary advances totalling GHc13,376.69 owed by staff of the university and management has been asked to retrieve the amount.
In addition to these discoveries, management advanced an amount of GHc65,325.60 to three contractors for the execution of projects in 2020.
The three contracts were however abrogated die to non-performance by the contractors.
Management was unable to recover the money although the contracts were abrogated.
The report recommended to them to recover the money with interest according to Bank of Ghana prevailing interest rate without further delay.
