We need an independent inquiry on Aisha Huang saga; gov’t cannot be trusted- NDC MP

September 7, 2022

Dr. Clement Apaak, Member of Parliament for Builsa South, has expressed his concern about the re-arrest of galamsey queen Aisha Huang, who has changed her name to Huang En.

The lawmaker is skeptical that the Chinese national was deported, as Ghanaians learned in 2018 when she was arrested for galamsey.

He is questioning whether the foreigner was deported as reported, and how she obtained a Ghana card, re-entered Ghana, and committed the same offence for which she was allegedly deported in 2018.

Because this is a serious national security issue, he believes it requires an independent investigation.

He believes that the NHIA director, as well as the Ministers of National Security, Interior, and Foreign Affairs, must answer questions.

Given what we already know, he added, we can’t trust this government on anything related to Aisha Huang.

”Was Aisha Huang ever deported? If so, how and when did she reenter Ghana, obtain a Ghanacard and continued illegal mining and related activities, the same reasons for which she was being prosecuted, and purportedly deported? Some observers are suspecting that she never left Ghana after all.

This matter merits an independent public enquiry. The NHIA boss, the Ministers for National Security, Interior and Foreign Affairs have questions to answer.

We can’t trust this government on anything to do with Aisha Huang given what we already know.”

Aisha Huang was remanded into police custody by an Accra Circuit Court for illegal mining.

This came after she and three other people were arrested again for their roles in the crime.

They were charged with illegal mining, as well as the sale and purchase of minerals. They will appear in court again on September 14, 2022.

They all pleaded not guilty to all charges.

The three are Johng Li Hua, Huang Jei, and Huaid Hai Hun.
