Relatives of Alfred Kankani Adongo, the suspect arrested as the main suspect in the recent killings in Wa, claim he is innocent of the charges leveled against him.
The family stated on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm’s Nyankonton Mu Nsem that the suspect is innocent.
A brother-in-law, Kwame Sefah Frimpong, revealed that the suspect is mentally challenged and could be a suspect in a murder case.
He explained that the suspect was undergoing treatment but had left home, and his family had been searching for him for several weeks until they learned in the news that he had been arrested for murder.
According to him, the family will use all legal means to ensure the release of their relative.
He stated that the scene where the man was arrested should have guided the police because there was no evidence linking him to the alleged killings.
“He is not a murderer. He has not killed anyone. He lacks the ability to kill anyone. He is mentally challenged and receiving treatment. He ran away from home, and we have been looking for him for several weeks. It is an attempt to bring shame to the family. They want to use our relative as a scapegoat, but we will fight to the last drop of our blood to ensure his release.”
He went on to say that the police should have unearthed something incriminating about the suspect, but nothing was discovered.
He has requested that the police conduct a thorough investigation in order to prove that he is not a murderer.
