Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA) says nobody can downplay the benefits of the free senior high school policy.
Pius Enam Hadzide says the vast majority of the beneficiaries of the policy are youth and that is something positive for the growth of the country.
He stated that, despite the negative reactions to the policy’s implementation, it has assisted several families who could not otherwise afford to send their children to school.
He said he is excited that several policies implemented by this government are helping transform lives and maintain economic growth.
He noted that the implementation of the Free SHS and other policies have massively improved the youth employment and secondary education deficits in the country.
He highlighted that the launch of the National Youth Policy by President Akufo-Addo has also paved the way for the government to address the concerns of the youth.
He said as part of the policy, the government is embarking on a curriculum review to help train the youth to prepare them for the job market.
He stated that TVET is being integrated into the educational system to provide young people with the necessary skills and training to enable them to take advantage of economic opportunities.
To address this, he stated that the government has built six STEM universities and is improving the existing tertiary institutions.
He was speaking with Dr. Ren, on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 92.4Fm in the UK.
