The National Health Insurance Scheme’s management and board have implemented immediate healthcare for all people aged 70 and up.
The national initiative aims to accelerate the attainment of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and close the access inequality gap.
According to an NHIS statement, the policy will eliminate the one-month period for NHIS subscribers aged 70 and up.
The policy went into effect on Monday, September 26, 2022, and the elderly aged 70 and up are encouraged to seek medical attention at any accredited NHIS hospital.
