Three illegal miners are believed to be dead after an underground mining pit caved in on them near Kyebi in the Eastern region.
Although the exact number of people trapped in the pit is unknown, three of them are believed to be dead.
A joint rescue team of police and residents recovered one of the victims and deposited him at the Kyebi government hospital morgue.
It has also been revealed that the owners of the illegal mining site brought the majority of the young labourers from Northern Ghana.
