Political science lecturer, Professor Ransford Gyampo has advised the Electoral Commission to dialogue with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) over concerns they have raised about the use of the Ghana card as the sole identity for the registration of new voter cards.
In his view, it will be prudent for the Electoral Commission to “make room for the suggestions from the NDC.”
The NDC has opposed the decision by the EC to use the Ghana card for the registration exercise.
The NDC has argued that the decision would disenfranchise several Ghanaian potential voters.
The EC is seeking to review the law to replace these documents with the Ghana Card.
The draft C.I. titled: Public Regulations 2021 is expected to regulate the upcoming continuous voter registration exercise.
Professor Gyampo wants the EC to consider the concerns raised by the NDC.
