Commissioner of Police (COP) [rtd] Bright Oduro, has noted that the current Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, is doing his best.
The retired officer said when he was first appointed, people asked him for his opinion, and he declared that the IGP was young and it was important for him to carry all other officers along to make his work efficient.
Mr. Oduro stated on Rainbow Radio 87.5fm’s Frontline that the IGP is doing his best. He is extremely active. He’s all over the place. Because he is a young man, that is how he is expected to work.”
He commended him got his activeness and asked him to keep working with other officials to make the police better.
When asked about the recent policing approach to motorcycle use, he stated, “that is a very good initiative.” The mere presence of police deters crime. However, if there are several officers in town and they extort money from people, that will incite people,” he says.
To deal with criminal activities, he stated that professional police must be friendly and work in collaboration with the public.
