Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Theophilus Tettey Chaie, plans were far advanced towards the regional election of executives for the party.
He stated that the party has put in place measures to ensure that there would be no misgivings or challenges after the election.
Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, he said the party would come out stronger and prepared for the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.
According to the former lawmaker, the party has been preparing for internal elections since August.
He said the party had organized over 30,000 branches without any violent acts recorded.
Mr. Chaie added that the democracy of Ghana and the role of political parties in maintaining a stable democracy are crucial.
He said the NDC is prepared to form the next government since the economy is going through a crisis and Ghanaians are facing extreme hardship.
He claimed that polls in the Greater Accra Region’s over 7,000 branches were all smoothly organized.
“We are now ready for constituency elections.” We have prepared and met with everyone who is interested in running. Those who want to compete have chosen their forms at the regional level. The nominations would be filled over the weekend. The vetting process will begin on Monday.
We are prepared and have all of the necessary plans in place for the branches, constituencies, regional, and national levels. We followed the guidelines, which helped us reduce all types of difficulties. We have positioned ourselves in such a way that the NDC will be the election winner in 2024. We are prepared and ready to present competent people to Ghanaians to help manage the party and the country.”
On average, 60 people have filed to contest the 17 positions in the patty across the various constituencies.
