Political activist Mr. Samuel Boateng has expressed doubt about the ability of President Akufo-Addo to deal with the galamsey menace.
The activist stated that the president’s efforts in fighting galamsey have yielded no results and Ghanaians should limit their expectations.
Speaking on NyankontonMu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, he said, ”there was no one we can fight galamsey. What I expected from the President was that he should have used someone as a scapegoat. That is something he has failed”.
He claimed that the Nana Akufo-Addo we knew as a no-nonsense figure is no longer the case because he lacks the political will to prosecute appointees for wrongdoing.
He pointed out that several appointees have been mentioned as engaging in galamsey, but we haven’t addressed them. As a result, I can confidently predict that the galamsey fight will fail. We can pretend to fight it for the next 100 years, but it will be futile because the president is unwilling to address the issue.”
He concluded, “the NDC may not even be able to stop it if they win power.” Who would oppose something that generates money for the party?”
