The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bosome Freho in the Ashanti Region, Yaw Danso, has been suspended.
He has been suspended over his alleged involvement in illegal mining.
A letter issued by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development said the suspension is to allow for an investigation into the claims.
The DCE has been linked to audio currently in circulation which allegedly captured the voice of the DCE promoting illegal mining activities.
Several individuals including members of his Assembly had already called on President Akufo-Addo to take a serious look into the allegations.
