According to the Executive Secretary of the Ghana Importers and Exporters Association, President Akufo-Addo and his government have no idea how to resolve Ghanaians’ economic crisis.
Samson Asaki Awingobit says Ghanaians are facing extreme hardship, and the government looks helpless.
He stated on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm’s Frontline that businesses are collapsing and that if the government does not act, things will get worse.
”We can no longer pretend that all is well. The nuisance taxes the government introduced has depleted all our profits, and they now want to touch our capital. We are saying, enough is enough. We are in a hopeless situation, and the government has no clue what they will do to salvage the situation of the business committee.”
Mr. Awingobit told host Kwabena Agyapong that the government has remained silent and that as business owners, we must strike to protect consumers. It is the responsibility of business owners to support the closure of stores. The success of this action would benefit all of us,” he added.
The cost of doing business, which includes taxes, interest rates, and exchange rate, among other things, is preventing businesses from surviving.
