One armed robber was shot by the Ghana Police Service in the Ashanti Region.
The service is also looking for the deceased robber’s accomplice.
According to a statement issued by the service, it gathered intelligence that a gang of robbers was planning to rob a cluster of banks in Suame.
Following this, the police established a special anti-robbery task force, which shot the robber.
According to the police, the robber and another accomplice were on motorcycles when they attacked a Fidelity bank customer at the Maakro branch after the customer had withdrawn money from the bank.
According to a police statement, the robbers fired shots and the officers on patrol in the area returned fire.
