A man of about 30 years has been beaten to a coma over the new fare increment at Nsawam Station-Lapaz in the capital city of Accra.
While on board a bus registered GB 4208-12, the victim allegedly started a beef with the driver’s mate regarding the fare. With him, it makes no sense to pay GH7.50p instead of the previous GH5.50p.
The driver, per eyewitness narrative, took a U-turn along the Lapaz-Amasaman route such that passengers who may not afford the new fare could get off his car.
Back at the lorry terminal (Nsawam Station), the (victim) lay in the car insisting the transport operators transport him on the old fare (GH5.50p) but managers of the commercial vehicle would force him out.
The misunderstanding grow huge and led to a fight when the victim was seen drawing an object from his backpack to attack the transport operators. In the process, one of them landed a blow to his face sending him to the paved floor instantly.
He lay unconscious and blood gushing from his head. Further probing revealed that one Kelvin threw the blow that landed the guy on the floor although some were seen fighting with all forms of the club.
It took a taxi driver to rush him to the hospital.
The incident occurred around 9 pm, Saturday, even as passengers waited in queues to have transport back home.
