-Teaching StaffThe Colleges of Education Non-Teaching Staff Association of Ghana (CENSAG) has served notice of strike action over their poor conditions of service.
CENSAG has outlined five issues they want authorities to address, or they would strike.
Chairman of CENSAG, Mr. Freddrick Fokuo Yeboah, disclosed that the first major issue is the 2022 conditions of service. Still, the government has not shown any interest in signing the agreement reached.
Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, he said, ”we have realised that the government is not prepared to sign the conditions of service agreement. They have not taken our issues seriously”.
He stated that the second issue is with their first-degree holders who are to be migrated to a better salary and that after deliberations, the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission told them that it could only begin in April 2023, which they disagreed with.
“We have been cheated for far too long. We no longer want to be duped. We have complained, but you want to start paying us more in 2023, which is not ideal.”
”The third issue we have is our all-year-round allowance and compensation. Since the first batch of degree holders completed school, we have not had any rest. No semester break, and yet, we have not been given any compensation for that.”
He also stated that an allowance agreed upon and paid to them had been reversed and that those who had received it would have the amount deducted from their salaries.
”These are the issues we have raised including our fuel and vehicle maintenance allowance. We have given the government an ultimatum. If we do not hear from them, we will lay down our tools on Friday, November 11, 2022.”
