Private legal practitioner lawyer Kofi Bekai has explained that Shatta Wale must prove beyond reasonable that his former manager Bulldog has a hand in the death of Fennec Okyere.
The lawyer noted that so far as Bulldog, originally known as Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, was acquitted and discharged from the murder case in 2017, the allegation of Shatta Wale is serious and could damage the reputation of Bulldog.
Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, the lawyer said no court of competent jurisdiction has found bulldog guilty of murder, hence the claims by Shatta are problematic.
Lawyer Bekai stated that the musician must prove in court that his allegations are true, or he may be forced to pay damages of up to Ghc10 million.
“Because Bulldog was released in the first case, the Police have invited you to bring the evidence and be a key witness in order to prove that your claims are true. What matters is that the case has been tried in court before. He was acquitted and released as a result of the proceedings. The court acquitted him due to a lack of evidence. So you can’t bring up the same issue and accuse him of murder.
It also implies that the investigators may not have had enough evidence to convict him in the past. As a result, if you have something new, bring it out and assist the police in their investigation. The case will be prosecuted if Shatta Wale provides the evidence. If not, a defamation case against him would hold.”
“If you know what you’re talking about, the cops will invite you and use your statement verbatim by relying on what you said on social media and use you as a key witness in the case.”
