Mr. Boakye Yiadom, a political analyst and lecturer, has advised Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to do the right thing and resign.
By resigning, the analyst believes the Minister will save everyone time, embarrassment, and an unnecessary censure motion.
He admitted that the Minister had done everything he could and was no longer in office, and that he should resign as any responsible and great leader would.
He stated that the Minister should not wait for the President to fire him or for the Ghanaian Parliament to fire him before taking action. He has done his best. He did his best during their first term, but it appears he is no longer required. He should step down.”
He was responding to the Minority’s motion for censure and the Speaker’s decision to refer the matter to an Adhoc committee.
He called the motion a waste of time because the Minority lacks the necessary numbers to pass it.
He explained that the Majority had also served notice that they would not support the Minority, so they did not need to file or move the motion.
He emphasised that the Minister should have resigned long ago as well. If he takes the bold step of resigning, he will save us all of these processes and time. He should not sit around waiting for the President to fire him. He should leave.
