The Office of Special Prosecutor says it has commenced an investigation into allegations of corruption levelled against Mr. Charles Adu Boahen, a former Minister of State at the presidency following the latest expose ‘Galamsey Economy’ by Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
The Office in a brief statement said it has initiated the probe after President Akufo-Addo referred the matter to the office.
President Akufo-Addo on Monday, November 14, 2022, sacked Mr. Boahen after he was captured in the expose allegedly soliciting for money from investigators who posed as investors who wanted to establish a bank in Ghana.
The OSP added that it would also investigate all other persons implicated in the video.
Mr Adu Boahen is accused of using Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s name, among other things, to sell influence and collect money from investors.
According to Anas, Mr Adu Boahen told undercover journalists posing as businessmen in a Dubai hotel that they will “need only a USD200,000 token as an appearance fee and some positions for the Vice President’s siblings to get his backing and influence in establishing a business in Ghana.”
