Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe, Counsel for Dorcas Affo-Toffey, Member of Parliament for the Jomoro constituency, has expressed satisfaction at the decision by the court to dismiss the petition against his client.
The Sekondi High Court has dismissed the petition filed against Dorcas Affo-Toffey, Member of Parliament for the Jomoro constituency.
The court presided over by Justice Dr. Richmond Osei Hwere, ruled that the MP was eligible because she lost her Ivorian citizenship at the same time she obtained her Ghanaian citizenship.
Speaking to journalists on Monday, November 21, 2022, the lawyer described the reasoning behind the ruling as ”brilliant judgement”.
He said the scholarship demonstrated in the judgement is splitting adding, ”we are extremely grateful to the court. We are extremely grateful to the Almighty God”.
He also expressed gratitude to his other lawyers, the NDC, and most especially former President John Dramani Mahama got his support.
On her part, the MP said she feels relieved and happy about the outcome.
She described the process as a long journey saying ”it has not been easy, but God has been good to me”.
