A private legal practitioner and member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has weighed in on the debate over who will be the next National Chairman.
Those campaigning for General Secretary Johnson Asjedu Nketiah, according to Elikplim Lorlormavor Agbemava, are doing a disservice to the umbrella family.
The incumbent chair, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, and current general secretary, Asiedu Nketiah are the key contenders in the national executive elections for the position of national chair.
Asiedu Nketiah’s decision to run for office has elicited mixed reactions within the party.
In a recent interview, Chairman Ofosu Ampofo claimed that former President John Dramani Mahama and party elders advised him not to run against him.
But he refused and has now decided to challenge him.
A video of Alhaji Said Sinare, the First Vice Chairman, describing him as a dictator has also gone viral.
He also asked party members not to vote for him because he (Nketiah) poses a threat to their victory in 2024.
The latest commenter, a lawyer, stated that there is nothing new Mr. Nketiah will do as the chair that he did not do as general secretary.
In a Facebook post, the lawyer wrote “Those who are campaigning for General Mosquito to become the Chairman of the NDC are doing a disservice to the Party. What can he do as Chairman that he couldn’t have done with all his powers as General Secretary?”
