The police service says it is looking into two officers who were seen on video assaulting a suspect.
The video shows police officers struggling with the individual and then assaulting him.
A section of the public was outraged by the situation and demanded that the service prove it.
In a brief statement, the police stated that an investigation into the matter has begun.
Inspector Prince Awuah and G/Cpl. John Ahiamata of the Divisional MTTD Asankrangwa have been identified as the officers.
The Police Professional Standards Bureau has been notified and the officers are referred.
“The Police have commenced investigation into a viral video in which two Police officers are seen struggling with a member of the public and assaulting him in the process.
The victim has been contacted to assist with t the investigation.
The matter is being handled by the Police Professional Standards Bureau and the officers involved, Inspector Prince Awuah and G/Cpl. John Ahiamata both with the Divisional MTTD Asankrangwa have been referred to the Bureau to be taken through the due process of the law.”
