Police in Adeiso are looking for a gang of Okada riders who allegedly assaulted and beat a palm wine tapper to a pulp after accusing him of stealing.
His attackers are said to have beaten and slashed him with sharp objects.
Reporting from the scene, Rainbow Radio’s Prince Collins Bening said it took an intervention from a resident who identified the victim and told the attackers he was not a thief.
Narrating the incident, our reporter said the victim had hired a ride from Osei to Obeng Yaw.
Upon reaching his destination, the victim reportedly asked the rider to follow him to where his master was working so he could collect money and pay him.
However, the rider refused and said he would follow him to the farm.
The Okada rider insisted that the victim pay him his money, but the victim responded that he did not have money on him.
The rider is said to have driven off and later returned to the scene with other riders to attack the victim after accusing him of attempting to steal his motor.
”His attackers placed their sharp objects in fire and used them to slash his head and other parts of his body. They also hurt his manhood and almost left him to die until a resident intervened.”
He was taken to two different hospitals before being transferred to the Koforidua Government Hospital.
