President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has asked Ghanaians to continue supporting the government in maintaining peace and security to propel economic development.
According to him, before investing their resources in a country, investors look for two things, both of which Ghana possesses.
He claimed that these factors make the country an appealing investment destination, thus the need to protect them.
This was stated by the President in a speech read for him by Mr Ambrose Dery, the Minister of the Interior, who represented him at the 25th Anniversary of the coronation of Torgbui Adzonugaga Amenya Fiti V, the Paramount Chief of Aflao, and the culmination of the Godigbe Festival.
“The existence of peace and security are necessary prerequisites for economic development of the country. Ghana as a country has been blessed over time to remain stable and peaceful,” he said.
“For the last two consecutive years, Ghana has been noted as the second most peaceful country in Africa, behind the Island of Mauritius… I wish to, therefore, call on all of you to join hands in a collective effort to ensure that Ghana continues to be peaceful and safe for us all to achieve the goals of government.”
The President praised the security agencies for their contributions to the country’s peace and security, and assured them that the government would provide them with all the necessary logistics to facilitate their work. He also expressed the government’s commitment to Ghanaians’ well-being.
