The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has called for the immediate dismissal of Mr. Alex Poku Mensah from his duty as Ashanti Regional Director of the National Service Scheme within 72 hours.
The Association wants the officer sacked after he allegedly insulted a nurse stationed at the Manhyia Hospital.
The NSS officer reportedly followed her daughter, who is a medical officer at the facility, to verbally attack the nurse who had called the doctor to ask her to come back to the hospital to rectify an error in a medication she had prescribed for a patient.
In a statement, the Association said ”We wish to state categorically that if the government does not relieve Mr. Alex Poku Mensah of his duty as Ashanti Regional Director of the National Service Scheme within 72 hours, nurses and midwives of Manhyia Hospital will be called upon to lay down their tools, followed by the whole of Ashanti Region and then it will be escalated to the whole nation”.
