A 25-year-old suspected thief, identified only as Awal, has been beaten to a pulp by an angry youth at Nkawie in the Atwima Nwabiahya South Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The suspected thief allegedly stole items such as money, shoes, and clothing from local residents.
He was reportedly chased down by angry residents, apprehended, and allegedly beaten.
According to reports, the enraged residents stripped him naked before assaulting him.
Residents accused Awal of being a serial thief who stole everything he could get his hands on.
They also claimed that when he was apprehended and turned over to the police, he was let off the hook, which prompted them to assault him.
Meanwhile, the residents who reportedly assaulted Awal fled the community after the incident.
The suspected thief has also fled the community.
