Minority leader Haruna Iddrisu has requested that the Lands and Natural Resources Ministry appear before the House and explain why they have failed to combat galamsey.
The leader also wants them to inform the house and the level of destruction to our water bodies about what they are doing to address the situation.
Haruna Iddrisu stated that whenever he raised the issue of the Minister’s absence from the House to answer questions, he received results.
According to him, the House would soon rise, necessitating the Minister’s appearance and response to questions.
He emphasised that if ministers fail to appear in person for the approval of the budget estimate, their budgetary allocation will be denied. This is not to be taken lightly.
He stated once more that only Ministers appointed solely by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to oversee the various ministries must rise from their seats to move motions, request budgetary allocation, and receive approval from the house; failure to do so will result in a stand down on a number of motions.
He warned his colleagues not to save any ministers, and that if they were not interested in money to work, assistance would be provided for them to stay at home. He also warned ministers who do not appear in person to move budgetary allocation motions to expect opposition from the other side of the house.
