The Health Service Workers Union of the Trades Union Congress has raised concerns over an alleged plan by the government to ‘haircut’ pension funds.
General Secretary of the Union Franklin Owusu Ansah at a press conference, said although President Akufo-Addo promised that there would be no ‘haircuts’, the government has met with stakeholders and planning to announce the proposed haircuts on Monday, December 5, 20222.
He alleged that the government held a meeting with pension fund managers on Friday, December 2, 2022, which was a holiday, to tell them that there would be haircuts on pension funds.
He quizzed why the government failed to bring this to the table for all stakeholders to discuss.
He further why the government would wait on a holiday to announce this, and on Monday, it is believed the Minister would bring it out to the public.
