Dr. Abu Sakara Foster, an agronomist has asked the government to agribusiness suppliers since several of them are running out of business.
He says credible information he has gathered has revealed several of these businesses are on the verge of collapse.
Dr. Sakara indicated that outgrowers and nucleus farmers are groaning under the weight of sky rocketing transaction costs for production and marketing.
He wondered if the government would spend money in transporting produce for Ghanaians to buy instead of paying the suppliers what they owed for two years.
“We wonder why government will now be spending money transporting produce to make shift MoFA markets, instead of paying its input suppliers that are owed for 2 years?”

Vultures gathered over a carcass are not the killer, blame the hunter that wounded the prey.
Petitions to government to pay its agribusiness suppliers have fallen on deaf ears for over two years now. Credible agribusiness started with a lifetime of savings are floundering whilst outgrowers and nucleus farmers are groaning under the weight of sky rocketing transaction costs for production and marketing.
We wonder why government will now be spending money transporting produce to make shift MoFA markets, instead of paying its input suppliers that are owed for 2 years?
The knock on effects will do nothing to support the resuscitation measures of setting up intergrated agroprocessing centres and expanded outgrower systems with new operators.
Govt should first pay the major operators that are already in the system and assist them to recover and expand already existing agribusinesses instead of picking new people to start new operations.
Political and personal affiliations should be set aside to focus on solving the deep hydra-headed problems. Politicizing the chain of difficulties that started 3 years ago in agricultural sector will not solve the major issues that have now engulfed operators in many sectors and even the national economy.
United we stand, divided we fall.
