According to Ghana’s First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joseph Osei Owusu, democracy has aided in the country’s transformation.
The parliamentarian said no matter how bad democracy is, it ensures inclusiveness and opportunities for everyone.
”My view is that democracy, however bad it is, ensures inclusiveness, and gives opportunity to people who may never have been considered in anything. And indeed, in many respects, looking back the last thirty years, Ghana has then a lot better for itself.”
He was speaking at a public event to examine Ghana’s democratic practise and its benefits.
He also stated that what we build in Ghana must help us generate more revenue.
He said rather than fearing that we should dream big, we should talk about how much it could cost to provide the dream when we dream big.
He said our leaders should also let the Ghanaian people know that it is their responsibility to provide the resources.
