General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justine Kodua, is questioning why it would be prudent to blame the current administration for the depreciation of the cedi but cannot be commended for the appreciation of the same.
He said it was obvious that the opposition was only interested in running the government down and criticizing it without any alternative.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, December 22, 2022, he said persons who blamed the government for the cedi depreciation are now saying we should not attribute the gains to the government intervention. So we ask if the government can be blamed for the cedi depreciation why can this same government be credited for the appreciation in the cedi?”
Justine Kodua went on to say that the price of fuel has dropped due to the massive appreciation of the cedi against the dollar, and he went on to ask traders to do the same.
He admitted that, while this may not entirely address Ghanaians’ current social and economic conditions, he believes it will provide a sigh of relief to Ghanaians, particularly as the festive season approaches.
