According to the Ghana Water Company (GWCL), there have been several attempts by hackers to hack its systems and disrupt water delivery.
Dr. Clifford Braimah, Chief Executive Officer of GWCL, stated that hackers have repeatedly attempted to hack the systems in order to disrupt the water supply, but that the company’s IT professionals have prevented the hacks.
He disclosed that management had installed at the head office, some robust systems that take off some of these attacks that come, and the IT people will tell you that it is working, he said.
He said almost every minute, there is an attempt by the hackers ro hack the GWCL systems, ”but we are able to get them off”, he stressed.
He told journalists at the information ministry’s meet the press series that the company is also using drones to monitor the activities of illegal miners.
He said the GWCL would use drones to monitor the activities of illegal miners to prevent the pollution of primary water sources in the Upper West, Western and Eastern Regions.
