A young woman has dumped a 4-month-old baby boy in a well at Pumpside, a suburb of Assin Foso in the Assin Foso Municipality of the Central Region.
According to the information available, the baby may have been abandoned on Monday, December 26, 2022.
Rainbow Radio’s Oheneba Ambrose reported on the incident that the mother ran away after dumping the baby rook and has not been found since.
He said the baby could not survive after the Assin Foso Fire Command came to the rescue.
The body has been deposited at St. Francis Xavier Hospital in the Assin foso Municipality while Assin Foso Police Command has begun an investigation.
He said residents in the area were shocked at the incident and wondered why the young lady could engage in such an act.
The residents have asked the Police to investigate the matter, arrest the lady and prosecute her.
It has also been revealed that the lady went to dump the baby after a fight with the baby’s father.
When the father later inquired about the baby’s whereabouts, she replied that she had given the baby to a relative.
She later fled the scene after it was discovered that she had abandoned her in the well.
Meanwhile, the baby’s father had been arrested and was cooperating with the police investigation.
