The Finance Ministry has extended the deadline for the Debt Exchange Programme to Tuesday, January 31, to enable it to build consensus for the programme.
The deadline was today, Monday, January 16, 2023, but Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta says the deadline has been extended to January 31.
This is the third time the deadline has been extended.
The government launched the debt exchange programme to invite bondholders to voluntarily exchange approximately GH137 billion in domestic notes and bonds of the Republic, including ESLA and Daakye, for a package of new bonds.
Several bondholders have spoken out against the programme and threatened legal action.
