The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare, has stated unequivocally that the Ghana Police Service has nothing against Christianity or prophecies, but only the manner in which they are carried out and communicated to the public.
He explained that the dissemination of such prophecies frequently causes fear and panic in society, which is unwarranted, and that the police cannot allow such incidents to occur.
The IGP made this known today when he appeared before the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament to answer questions about the police service after the Interior Ministry was invited to come and respond to some infractions spotted against them in the 2020 Auditor General’s report.
The IGP, in his submission, indicated that ”as a Christian and somebody who believes in prophecies and by extension, I am a prophet in my own right because as a son of God, God will always have the opportunity to have engagement with you and tell you things in the future if only you are ready to listen.
All the issues we have been putting across as an institution os to prove to everybody that we are not against prophecies. We are talking about communication of such prophesies that will end up creating fear and panic in our society which is unwarranted.”
